All-Star Singalong Welcomes the Year of the Horse—TV2’s “Galloping Horses Celebrate the New Year” Kicks Off in Festive Style

(Kuala Lumpur, Feb 15) Malaysia’s national broadcaster RTM has lined up a series of Chinese New Year specials to bring festive cheer to viewers nationwide. One of the highlights is the CNY variety special “Jùn Mǎ Bēn Téng Hè Xīn Suì” (roughly: Galloping Horses, Celebrating the New Year), produced by RTM’s TV Entertainment Unit. The show will air on TV2 at 9:00 PM on Feb 17 (the first day of Lunar New Year), featuring performances by multiple local singers delivering New Year blessings.

The hosting lineup is also a key draw. RTM news anchor Dai Jing Hang returns for a second consecutive year as host, stepping out of the studio once again. He will co-host with Huang Xiao Han, a DJ from RTM’s Chinese radio station Ai FM. Though they have known each other for years, this marks their first on-screen collaboration, promising a lively “calm-meets-energetic” dynamic.

The program brings together six acts and nine performers, including Zhong Sheng Zhong, Zhong Xiao Yu, Lai Song Feng, Isaac Voo, Jestinna Kuan, Woshijay, Zhong Xu Hui, Wa Wa, and Xie Jia Yu, the champion of the 2024 Bintang Ai singing competition. Viewers can expect a lineup of upbeat, festive CNY songs.

Special stages include a group performance of “Xin Nian Hao Ma” by Zhong Sheng Zhong, Zhong Xiao Yu, Zhong Xu Hui, and Wa Wa, while Lai Song Feng will deliver warm wishes through “Xin Nian Hao Ma?”. Collaborative “surprise” stages are also planned for Jestinna Kuan + Isaac Voo and Woshijay + Xie Jia Yu. Xie Jia Yu will additionally perform Ai FM’s Year of the Horse CNY song “Yuan Qi Man Man” (Full of Energy).

Beyond music and dance, the show incorporates cultural segments: guzheng performer Wang Xi Ying will present a traditional instrumental piece, and feng shui practitioner Li Yuan Ming will share a broad outlook for the Year of the Horse. Huang Xiao Han also filmed an outdoor segment at Fo Guang Shan Dong Zen Temple, introducing cultural traditions and tea etiquette.
