Man United Injury Update: Mount Nears Return, Carrick Backs Maguire Renewal

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick confirmed that four players—Mason Mount, Lisandro Martínez, De Ligt, and Tyrell Malacia—will miss this weekend’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace due to injury. Among them, £60 million midfielder Mount has returned to training and is expected to feature in the next match against Newcastle United.

Carrick said: “Mount is getting closer; he’s back on the grass and will soon start training with the ball. We must be patient, but he’s an excellent player, and the club will ensure he’s ready for the season finale.” The 27-year-old midfielder has missed four games due to injury and previously scored the winning goal against Crystal Palace in November.

De Ligt remains sidelined with a back injury, with a potential return not expected until the end of March. Carrick stressed: “De Ligt’s recovery is complex due to the nature of the injury, but he is making progress.” Fortunately, veteran Harry Maguire has stepped up in central defense. Carrick praised him and supported a contract renewal: “Harry is an indispensable player. His experience and fighting spirit are vital for United.”
