(Hong Kong, 23rd) Actor Matthew Ko, 41, recently gave fans a surprisingly relatable moment after sharing a stack of toll payment notices from Hong Kong’s HKeToll system—totaling 20 bills.

Ko, who married his wealthy girlfriend Wong Tsz-man two years ago and welcomed their daughter the following year, has since shifted his career focus to mainland China. In a social media post, he humorously wrote: “As a good Hong Kong citizen, I’ve paid it—$8 toll turning into $183 x 20!”

According to reports, the overdue notices were linked to multiple routes, including major tunnels such as the Tsing Sha Control Area and the Western Harbour Crossing. A standard HK$8 toll escalated to HK$183 due to a HK$175 surcharge for late payment—bringing the total across 20 bills to several thousand Hong Kong dollars.

Ko explained that the situation arose after he changed cars and forgot to reset the automatic payment system. Coupled with being away during the Lunar New Year holidays, the payments went unnoticed. Although he has since settled all fines, he also submitted a handwritten appeal in hopes of reducing the additional charges.

The incident sparked widespread reactions online, with many netizens calling it “too relatable” and a reminder for drivers to update their payment settings after switching vehicles.
