(China) Chinese actor Hu Ge has once again become a trending topic after a woman claiming to be his “first love” revealed details of their relationship from 24 years ago, including handwritten love letters. The revelations have sparked widespread discussion about nostalgia versus privacy boundaries.

According to the claims, in 2000, 18-year-old Hu Ge was preparing for entrance exams in Shanghai and began a long-distance relationship with a 16-year-old high school student in Beijing through letter exchanges. They reportedly met only twice, sharing simple moments like strolling in Xidan and meeting at the Bund.

The exposed letters drew particular attention. Hu encouraged her to study abroad, calling it a “rare opportunity,” and mentioned working part-time to save money for a summer visit. He even used a numeric code, “2121771,” meaning “love you, kiss you,” reflecting youthful romance.

The woman stated that their relationship remained modest, limited to holding hands and kissing. As she went abroad and Hu entered drama school, they gradually lost contact and eventually parted ways.

However, the disclosure has raised serious privacy concerns. Legal experts noted that publishing private letters without consent may constitute a violation of privacy rights, especially as Hu Ge is now married with children. Some critics argue the revelation is an attempt to gain attention by exploiting past relationships.

Public opinion remains divided—some see the letters as a genuine reflection of youthful love, while others believe the act crosses ethical boundaries.

The incident also challenges previous assumptions, as actress Xue Jianing was long thought to be Hu Ge’s first love, whereas this revelation suggests an earlier relationship.
