(Seoul, March 29) Taemin of SHINee has been making headlines following a major career move. After signing with Galaxy Corporation, joining the same agency as G-Dragon and Song Kang-ho, his next chapter is drawing global attention—especially with his upcoming performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
Recently, however, Taemin sparked online debate over his appearance. In a promotional video for Amazon Music, some netizens questioned whether he “looked different.” A noticeable change in makeup—particularly stronger nose contouring—led to comments such as “Is that really Taemin?” and “His vibe feels different,” quickly pushing the topic into trending entertainment headlines.
In response, Taemin shared new photos on social media on March 28, where his visuals appeared closer to his usual refined and natural look. Fans largely dismissed the controversy, attributing the earlier difference to styling and camera angles, commenting, “He looks the same as always” and “Still handsome.”
Meanwhile, Taemin released his first all-English digital single, “Long Way Home,” on March 27, marking his official entry into the global market. With his new agency and international push, he is set to perform at Coachella on April 11 and 18—further solidifying his presence on the global stage.
U.S. Issues $400 Billion “Manufacturing Cooperation Fund” Ultimatum, South Korea Caught in a Dilemma Lead
With the U.S. threatening to levy a 25% tariff on Korean-made cars as of August 1, Seoul–Washington trade talks have reached a critical juncture. Beyond demands to open its agricultural and livestock markets, the U.S. has proposed establishing a “Manufacturing Cooperation Fund” of roughly $400 billion—far beyond South Korea’s capacity. This high‐pressure strategy leaves the Moon administration squeezed between domestic backlash and American deadlines.
