Li Ronghao’s Copyright Dispute Sparks New Controversy — Hua Chenyu Dragged In as “Skateboard Shoes” Infringement Allegations Surface

The ongoing copyright dispute between Li Ronghao and Shan Yichun has continued to escalate, drawing widespread attention—and unexpectedly pulling singer Hua Chenyu into the spotlight. Pang Mailang, who rose to fame with My Skateboard Shoes, posted on March 30 implying that Hua Chenyu’s adaptation of his song may have involved infringement, sparking fresh online debate. Hua Chenyu’s team quickly responded.

Looking back, Hua Chenyu performed an adapted version of My Skateboard Shoes on the variety show The Next Top Bang in 2016, later releasing My Skateboard Shoes 2016. In 2019, Pang Mailang publicly claimed he had only authorized the adaptation, not commercial performances, suggesting possible infringement. However, after Hua Chenyu’s side clarified that all adaptations and releases were properly licensed, Pang later issued an apology, and the matter seemed resolved at the time.

Unexpectedly, on March 30, Pang Mailang reposted Li Ronghao’s accusation that Shan Yichun had infringed copyright by performing Li Bai, while directly tagging Hua Chenyu—seemingly revisiting the old dispute. In response, Hua Chenyu Studio reposted their previous joint statements and replied bluntly: “Reheating old news—no further response.”

In fact, the copyright of My Skateboard Shoes had long been sold by Pang Mailang to his management company, Beijing Huashu Culture Media, meaning he no longer holds direct control over the work. Hua Chenyu’s My Skateboard Shoes 2016 was legally licensed from the company in 2017 and included in his album. As a result, many netizens believe Pang’s renewed claims are more about gaining attention than raising a legitimate issue.
