After 14 Months of Waiting, Chua Yong Jin Releases New Album—Produced by Teh Kok Leong with an Inspiring Lead Single

(Kuala Lumpur, April 3) After a two-year hiatus, singer Chua Yong Jin returns with his fifth album “From Never Changing”, marking a significant milestone as he officially signs with Southern Records. Despite facing scheduling delays during the festive album season, he waited nine months for a release slot and spent another five months refining the project—resulting in a polished and heartfelt production. At the press conference, producer Teh Kok Leong even presented him with a symbolic “achievement certificate,” celebrating the album’s strong demand, which required restocking within just a week of release.

Chua expressed deep gratitude to Teh, a close friend of over 20 years, for personally producing the album. The release features the motivational title track “From Never Changing,” alongside “Deep as the Sea” and “A Sincere Heart,” a Cantonese adaptation of Tsai Hsiao Hu’s well-known Hokkien classic “The One I Love Most in This Life.” Each track reflects Chua’s personal journey and artistic growth.

Confident in his Cantonese singing, Chua admitted he was still challenged by Teh’s meticulous standards. The producer even pointed out subtle imperfections in his vocal endings, pushing him to refine his delivery and fully immerse himself in each performance—ultimately elevating the emotional depth of the album.

The launch event saw the presence of fellow artists and industry figures including Yeong Ke Yi, Teh Kok Leong, Liu Yan Yan, Chan Lai Mei, arranger Tsang Chong Lit, and Batman. The album also includes refreshed renditions of classic songs, notably “Cold Autumn,” a duet with labelmate and Astro veteran singer Chan Lai Mei.

Reflecting on his early competition days, Chua fondly recalled how Liu Yan Yan used to rush backstage in her school uniform and address him as “big brother.” Now under the same label, he jokingly calls her “senior,” which she admits still feels unfamiliar. As for former rival Yeong Ke Yi, Chua laughed that he used to dread competing against him due to his strong stage presence and talent. Today, the two reunite as labelmates, continuing to inspire and learn from each other.
