Becoming a Father of Two Sparks Debate—Christopher Downes Denies Remarriage, Confirms Child Conceived via Sperm Donation

(Taipei, April 3) Canadian actor Christopher Downs, widely known as Xia Keli, drew public attention after sharing a photo on April 2 of himself holding a baby girl, confirming she is his second daughter named Ocean. The news quickly sparked widespread discussion. He later clarified that he has not remarried and elaborated on the child’s background and parenting arrangement.

According to SET News, Xia stated in an interview that he is currently co-parenting the child with her mother. He emphasized that they are not in a romantic relationship and do not live together. “We are simply two people who wanted a child,” he said.

He further explained that the mother is a friend who had previously asked him for sperm donation. Their relationship remains purely platonic. She had once been pregnant but unfortunately experienced a miscarriage. She has since entered a new relationship and is planning to have a child again.

Regarding the identity of the child’s mother, Xia chose to keep it private, expressing his wish for her to live a simple and peaceful life away from public attention.

Responding to allegations from his former manager—who accused him of infidelity during his marriage and inappropriate relationships with female fans—Xia firmly denied the claims. He stated that he does not wish to engage in further disputes but criticized the continued release of misleading information. He noted that these accusations had already been circulated between June and August, during which he chose not to respond publicly, instead gathering evidence for legal action. “They have now released recordings again and renewed their accusations,” he said.

Xia emphasized that his priority now is caring for his children, including taking his daughter to school every morning. However, he added that continued defamation could affect his child emotionally. “I cannot stand by if it causes her embarrassment. I need to explain to her that these actions are driven by motives—the bigger the controversy, the more they profit from gossip media,” he said.
