(Kuala Lumpur, April 6) Singer 2026 expands globally for the first time, with Astro partnering Mango TV to launch Singer 2026: Malaysia Edition. The show brings together top Malaysian vocalists competing for a coveted spot in the China grand finals.

The premiere features Golden Melody Award-winning singer Julia Peng (Peng Chia Hui) as a judge, alongside Shila Amzah and Guan Qi Yuan. From 26 preliminary contestants, only two will advance into the starting lineup.

Julia Peng shared practical advice, emphasizing discipline: “Get enough rest and eat well,” she said, revealing she always eats rice before performing to maintain energy.

The first episode adopts a battle-style format, where 26 singers compete for two slots among eight main performers. Contestant Miu Chu (Fu Qiong Yin) is widely regarded as the strongest contender, with fellow participants predicting her advancement.

Miu Chu admitted to feeling slightly nervous but aims to enjoy the stage and showcase a refreshed performance, especially for her child.

Returning singer Zeng Jieyu described stepping back on stage as the hardest challenge, hoping to use the competition as a benchmark for her growth.

YouTuber Soya Xu said she still finds it surreal to be part of the show, adding that her strength lies not in technique but in storytelling through music.

Judge Shila Amzah highlighted that singing goes beyond pitch accuracy—it’s about emotional delivery. Guan Qi Yuan added that individuality and artistic identity will be key.

Singer 2026: Malaysia Edition premieres on May 30, airing every Saturday at 8:30 PM on Astro AEC, Astro GO, On Demand, and sooka.
