Tragedy Strikes “Drag Race Philippines” — 27-Year-Old Contestant Passes Away in Their Sleep

(Philippines, April 6) Tragedy has struck Season 4 of Drag Race Philippines, as contestant Misua (real name Jason Elvie Ty) has passed away unexpectedly, prompting an immediate suspension of filming.

The production team confirmed that Misua died peacefully in her sleep on April 2. She was 27 years old. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Production company World of Wonder released a statement expressing deep sorrow, describing Misua as a talented performer who brought light, art, and joy to those around her. Filming has been paused to support contestants and staff affected by the loss, while the team remains in contact with her family and respects their privacy during this difficult time.

Her family also shared a tribute, remembering her as a beloved son, brother, friend, and mentor—“a shining star” who will be deeply missed.

Misua was a member of Haus of LaFeya, regularly performing at Rampa Drag Club, and also worked as a graphic designer. Season 4 had only just begun filming, and the contestant lineup had not yet been publicly revealed.

Drag Race Philippines is adapted from RuPaul's Drag Race and hosted by Paolo Ballesteros, featuring contestants competing in various challenges to become the next drag superstar of the Philippines.
