KL Concert Opening Night Hits a High Note with Encore Frenzy — Fans Chant “Where’s Andy?” as Sammi Cheng Responds Sweetly with a Playful Shout-Out

(Kuala Lumpur, April 18) Hong Kong pop diva Sammi Cheng kicked off her double-show run of “You & Mi Sammi Cheng Live in Kuala Lumpur 2026” on Friday night at Unifi Arena, performing to a sold-out crowd of 13,000 fans.

The concert replicated the Macau production in full, featuring an immersive four-sided stage that brought Sammi closer to her audience. She made a dramatic entrance in a dazzling black warrior outfit, descending from above while performing “Pilgrimage” and “Burning Bright,” setting the tone for a high-energy 2.5-hour show packed with dance and vocals.

During the show, fans shouted for her husband Andy Hui, prompting a playful response: “He’s not here tonight, he has his own show. Be happy for him—I am too. Go, Andy!” She later performed their iconic love song “Only You,” sharing heartfelt thoughts about finding someone irreplaceable in life.

With a 200-member production team, the concert showcased top-tier staging, elaborate costumes, and dynamic choreography. Sammi delivered nearly 30 hits, including beloved movie songs such as “Needing You,” “Love on a Diet,” “Marry a Rich Man,” and “My Left Eye Sees Ghosts,” sparking waves of nostalgia.

Special guests including MC Yan, 24Herbs, Sherman Chung, and Chung Shu Kei made surprise appearances, adding even more excitement to the night.

Returning to Malaysia after a decade, Sammi admitted she initially thought ticket sales might be slow—but the shows sold out instantly. “Now you know why everyone was clicking so fast for tickets!” she joked.

At the finale, “DJ Sammi” turned up the energy with a medley performance, and although the show officially ended, fans refused to leave. Moved by their enthusiasm, she returned for an encore, performing “Worth It” to close the unforgettable night.
