(Tokyo, April 19) Japanese table tennis star Ai Fukuhara has entered a new chapter in life. After her 2021 divorce from Chiang Hung-chieh following a public controversy, she announced her remarriage and pregnancy last December. Recent reports confirm that she has safely given birth to her third child.

According to Japanese media, her new husband is the man previously rumored to be involved with her, referred to as “Mr. A from Yokohama,” and the couple registered their marriage in early summer. Fukuhara is now enjoying life with her newborn.

Her post-birth appearance was revealed through a social media post by former Japanese volleyball player Sarina Koga. In the photo, Fukuhara sports a fresh short hairstyle, having cut her long hair, presenting a renewed and relaxed image.

In a previous interview last year, she shared that she would focus on childcare in the short term. However, she also expressed her intention to return to school to pursue graduate studies in sports management. She had been admitted to Waseda University in 2007 but left due to preparations for the 2008 Beijing Olympics—something she has long regretted.

Fukuhara candidly reflected on the challenges she faced during her past controversies, admitting that she once withdrew from the public eye. She now hopes to use her experiences to give back to table tennis and her supporters, saying she wishes to contribute in her own way if given the opportunity.
