(Hong Kong, 26th) Cecilia Cheung’s half-sister Deborah Tai has made a rare public appearance, opening up about her life journey after relocating to Canada—drawing attention from netizens.

According to reports, former Scoop host Yung Sin-yuen recently uploaded a YouTube interview featuring the cast of the upcoming Cantonese musical Excuse Me! Next Stop, set to be staged in Vancouver. The lineup includes Soler member Dino Acconci, Fiona Yuen, Gloria Tang, and Deborah Tai, who also serves as the project director.

In the interview, Deborah Tai revealed that her mixed Chinese-Western appearance once limited her acting opportunities in Hong Kong. “I didn’t quite fit the typical local image, yet I wasn’t fully Western either, which made it difficult to find suitable roles,” she explained. This led her to explore life abroad.

After moving to Canada, she gradually found a sense of belonging. She described the lifestyle there as slower and more comfortable compared to Hong Kong, allowing her to reflect more clearly on her life choices.

She likened life to a “road trip,” encouraging openness to new environments and experiences at different stages. Currently, she is actively involved in theater production as the project director of Excuse Me! Next Stop, a collaboration she helped initiate to bring fresh Cantonese performances to Vancouver audiences.

Deborah Tai has been based in Vancouver for years, maintaining a low profile while staying close to her sister. She previously worked in real estate and is now married with children, focusing on family life. Her involvement in the stage production marks a new challenge and offers the public a glimpse into her current life.
