A major headline hits the NBA: Dallas Mavericks rising star Cooper Flagg has officially won the 2025–26 Rookie of the Year award after a phenomenal debut season.

The 2025 No.1 overall pick out of Duke delivered one of the most complete rookie campaigns in recent years, averaging 21.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, along with 1.2 steals and 0.9 blocks across 70 starts—establishing himself as the team’s cornerstone.

Even more impressively, Flagg led the Mavericks in total points, rebounds, assists, and steals. Since the 1973–74 season, only he and Michael Jordan have achieved such an all-around statistical dominance as rookies.

In the NBA’s official announcement video, Flagg shared a simple yet powerful message to the incoming 2026 rookies: “Every night you step on the court, give it everything you’ve got.” The quote quickly resonated across the league, reflecting the mindset behind his rapid rise.

His signature performance came on April 3 against the Orlando Magic, where he dropped 51 points—setting the all-time record for the highest single-game score by a player under 20.

Although Dallas finished the season with a 25–56 record, the future looks promising. Flagg’s historic rookie year signals the beginning of a new era—built on elite production, composure, and undeniable leadership.
