(Hong Kong, July 26) Hong Kong singer Sammi Cheng has been hit by another setback. Shortly after postponing her upcoming concerts due to delays in stage production, she revealed that all footage from the music video for her new song Meteor and Earth was mysteriously lost after filming in Japan.
Sharing the news on social media, Cheng said she was informed by her team the day after returning to Hong Kong that every lip-sync MV file had disappeared and could not be recovered.
"Everything we filmed is gone. Not a single bit was left," she wrote, expressing her shock.
According to Cheng, the team had carefully planned every aspect of the production—from the concept and lighting to the art direction—to create a romantic visual style that matched the song. She also revealed that she was especially satisfied with her performance that day, making the loss even more heartbreaking as the same emotions would be difficult to recreate in a reshoot.
After facing both the concert postponement and the missing MV files within a short period, Cheng admitted she nearly fainted when she heard the news. She joked that if only her luck had gone toward winning the lottery instead, she would have "hit the jackpot twice."
Despite the disappointment, Cheng chose to stay calm rather than dwell on the setback. She said blaming anyone would not solve the problem and would only put more pressure on the production team.
Her record label is still trying to recover or repair the missing files. Cheng also asked fans for patience, hoping the long-awaited music video can eventually be completed and released.
