Bukit Bintang Giant Screen Amplifies 'Wang Wang' Family's Voice, Li Yuanling Urges More Celebrities to Speak Up

KUALA LUMPUR, July 26 — Malaysian pianist Cathryn Lee has expressed deep sadness over the widely discussed "Wang Wang" case, urging influencers, public figures, celebrities and the media to use their platforms to speak up for animals that cannot defend themselves.

Speaking to the media, Lee said she was surprised that many of her friends and family members were still unaware of the incident, highlighting how the case has yet to reach a wider audience or raise sufficient awareness about the seriousness of animal abuse.

She also praised members of the public who voluntarily raised funds to display digital billboards at KLCC and Bukit Bintang for two consecutive days in support of Wang Wang while promoting anti-animal abuse messages.

According to Lee, such initiatives help more people learn about the case, but she believes the voices of influencers, celebrities, public figures and media organisations are equally important in keeping the conversation alive and advocating for animal welfare.

"I know some people believe information about the case is being restricted where it happened, but an issue of public interest should never be forgotten simply because information is limited," she said. "Some platforms may restrict content, but that cannot stop people around the world from continuing to care and speak up."

Lee stressed that her hope is for the public to focus not only on Wang Wang's story but also on the countless animals suffering abuse without the ability to protect themselves.

She believes the case should become a turning point that encourages society to place greater importance on animal welfare and the fight against animal cruelty.

Lee added that every person who is willing to share information, raise awareness and speak out has the power to make a difference. "When more people choose to stand up, real change becomes possible," she said.
