Malaysian Producer Hii Kang Wen Awarded Honorary Fellowship by Lincoln University College

KUALA LUMPUR, July 26 — Le Vision Pictures co-founder and film producer Hsu Kang Wen has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship by Lincoln Professional College in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development of Malaysia's film industry, international film collaborations, film education and regional cultural exchange.

Hsu said the fellowship represents more than a personal achievement, describing it as recognition of his years of dedication to film production, cultural exchange and industry development. Over the years, he has actively promoted collaborations between Malaysia and the film industries of China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore.

For more than a decade, Hsu has championed local independent filmmaking while organising international film initiatives that connect filmmakers, film institutions and creative industry players across borders. His work spans film production, international film festival planning and film education, with the goal of strengthening Malaysia's presence in the Asia-Pacific film industry and bringing local productions to the global stage.

In recent years, Hsu has also played a key role in regional film cooperation, serving consecutively as chairman of the 61st and 62nd Asia-Pacific Film Festival. As one of Asia's longest-running and most influential international film events, the festival brought together directors, producers, investors and industry representatives from across the region during its Malaysian editions, helping to expand international collaboration while enhancing Malaysia's standing in the regional film sector.

Hsu is also the founder and chairman of the Malaysia-China Film Exchange Festival. The festival recently concluded its third edition, continuing to use cinema as a bridge for cultural exchange while strengthening film industry cooperation between Malaysia and China. It also provides filmmakers, creative professionals and industry organisations with opportunities to exchange ideas and build long-term partnerships.

Reflecting on the recognition, Hsu said the honorary fellowship is not only an honour but also a responsibility that motivates him to continue contributing to the growth of Malaysia's film industry.

Beyond promoting international collaborations, Hsu has remained committed to developing the local industry. Since co-founding Le Vision Pictures in 2016, the company has produced and distributed more than 30 films across various genres and languages while establishing long-term partnerships with production teams throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
