Yin Jingshun Stuns with Original-Key Performance of Don't Ask Me Who I Am, Scores 94 and Clinches MVP Again

Hong Kong, July 28 — The second cumulative ranking round of Midlife, Sing & Shine 4, themed "Original Singers' Night," featured Kenny Bee as guest judge, while Michelle Yim and Shek Sau served as honorary mentors. The Top 10 contestants teamed up with veteran singers to perform classic hits.

Malaysian contestant Yin Jingshun, known as the "Male Faye Wong of Malaysia," partnered with veteran singer Linda Wong to perform the classic Don't Ask Me Who I Am. Dressed in matching black-and-white outfits, the duo impressed both the judges and audience.

At Linda Wong's request, Yin boldly performed the song in its original key. Although he admitted the pitch was slightly high for him, the performance earned the night's highest score of 94 points, securing him another MVP title after previously winning with Grandma's Words.

Yin shared that Linda had full confidence in him and encouraged him to sing in the original key. Linda praised his dedication, revealing that he even accompanied her to two yoga classes before the performance. Michelle Yim joked that the duet sounded like "two female singers performing together," while Kenny Bee commented that he "couldn't find a single mistake."

Rock singer Cheng Chung Ho teamed up with Sunny Chan of Supper Moment for Song of Happiness, earning 93 points. Kenny Bee praised Cheng's authentic band-style vocals, while judge Fama suggested Sunny should consider inviting him to join Supper Moment. Cheng later said performing with his idol had already fulfilled his dream.

Ng Yik Wai and Tong Ka Yu performed Love in the Wind and Rain, receiving praise for their emotional interpretation. Kenny Bee said the performance gave him goosebumps and even called it one of the best versions he had ever heard. The judges also applauded Ng's remarkable improvement in Cantonese pronunciation.

Hui Mei Kei and Siu Fei collaborated on Pet, earning 89 points. Siu Fei's outstanding harmonies helped elevate the performance, although judge Chow Kwok Fung deducted one point after Mei Kei missed a lyric, saying they would otherwise have received 90 points.

Meanwhile, Choi Mat Kit and Shiga Lin performed As Long As I'm With You. Despite the song's rapid Cantonese lyrics, Shiga quietly mouthed the words to help her partner through the performance. Their duet earned 89 points, with judges praising Choi's vocal improvement and accurate pitch throughout.
