(Incheon, Aug. 1) The 5th Blue Dragon Series Awards was held at Paradise City in Incheon, where the Popular Star Award was presented to Yoo Jae-suk, Byeon Woo-seok, Go Youn-jung and Lee Soo-ji despite earlier controversy surrounding irregular voting during the online poll.
When Yoo Jae-suk's name was announced, the veteran television host looked visibly stunned and instinctively mouthed, "Me?" before realising he had indeed won the award. His genuine reaction quickly drew laughter from the audience.
Accepting the trophy, Yoo admitted he never expected to receive the Popular Star Award. "I'm honestly very surprised," he said before joking, "I'll keep my speech short. Hopefully I'll have another chance to come back on stage later," hinting at his hopes of winning an even bigger award.
Go Youn-jung also expressed her gratitude, saying she never expected to go on stage twice that evening. She thanked fans for voting and promised to repay their support with even better performances in the future.
Byeon Woo-seok, who rose to global fame through Lovely Runner and has maintained his popularity with The Grand Prince of the 21st Century, said the award represented the love, time and dedication of his fans, adding that he would continue striving to become an actor worthy of their support.
Comedian and actress Lee Soo-ji, who received the award for the first time, described it as both an honour and a reminder to continue bringing laughter and joy to audiences.
