(Hong Kong, 3rd) Hong Kong actor Louis Koo and his company, One Cool Film Production Limited, have been named as defendants in a lawsuit involving an alleged unpaid loan. The pair are accused of failing to fully repay a HK$70 million (approximately RM36.08 million) loan, with the amount allegedly owed now reaching around HK$149 million (approximately RM77 million) after interest.

Sino Hero Ventures Limited filed a claim with the Hong Kong High Court on Wednesday (2nd), naming One Cool Film Production Limited and Koo as the two defendants.

According to the writ, Sino Hero Ventures Limited is registered in the British Virgin Islands and is not a money lender as defined under Hong Kong’s Money Lenders Ordinance.

The plaintiff claims that the parties entered into a Term Loan Facility Agreement on September 6, 2019, under which HK$70 million was provided to the defendants. The agreed interest rate was 1% per month, rising to as much as 1.5% per month in the event of late repayment. The original repayment date was September 17, 2020.

Further agreements were reportedly signed in 2020 and 2021, extending the repayment deadline to December 31, 2022, with adjustments also made to the interest arrangements.

However, the plaintiff alleges that the defendants failed to repay the full amount by the extended deadline and had paid only HK$13.2 million (approximately RM6.8 million).

The plaintiff’s lawyers subsequently sent several demands for repayment. According to the court filing, the defendants made another payment of HK$700,000 (approximately RM360,000) on August 27, 2026.

Despite the payment, the plaintiff claims that HK$149,382,227 (approximately RM76.99 million) in principal and interest remains outstanding.

The plaintiff is therefore seeking a court order requiring the defendants to repay the HK$149.38 million allegedly outstanding as of August 27, 2026. It is also seeking interest on the remaining debt at an annual rate of 18% thereafter.

The case is now before the court, and the allegations concerning the debt and liability remain subject to judicial determination.
