Real Madrid claimed a 3-1 victory over Mexican side Pachuca in the Club World Cup final, but celebrations were tempered by a post-match revelation from 21-year-old midfielder Jude Bellingham. The English star confirmed he will undergo shoulder surgery following the tournament, a decision that could sideline him for the remainder of 2025.

According to Spanish outlet Marca, Bellingham first dislocated his left shoulder in a La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano in November 2023. Despite the injury, he continued playing for nearly a year and a half, showcasing remarkable resilience. “I feel discomfort in my shoulder every single match,” Bellingham admitted in a post-match interview.

Despite the persistent pain, Bellingham has delivered solid performances this season, recording 15 goals and 13 assists in 54 appearances. Yet, the prolonged physical toll has made surgery unavoidable.

The expected recovery time varies: Cadena SER estimates a 2–3 month absence, with a potential return in mid-October. El Chiringuito, however, suggests he could be out until January, meaning he might miss all remaining matches in 2025.

This is a significant blow for head coach Xabi Alonso and Real Madrid’s tactical setup. Still, club sources say the entire squad fully supports Bellingham’s decision. “He has given everything for the team — his health must come first,” one insider said.

As modern football grows ever more physically demanding, player health and long-term career management are more critical than ever. Bellingham’s decision may pause his journey temporarily, but it secures his future.
