Once seen as the future of Manchester United’s frontline, Rasmus Højlund now faces a major career crossroads. With United closing in on the signing of Slovenian star striker Benjamin Šeško, the 22-year-old Dane must now choose between two difficult paths: leaving Old Trafford or warming the bench for most of the season.

🔄 Šeško Arrival Could Force Højlund Out of the Picture

Šeško, who is three months younger than Højlund, comes with a higher transfer fee (£75M vs. £64M) and is more tactically aligned with Rúben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system. With United out of European competitions next season, the reduced fixture load means less rotation and fewer opportunities for backup players.

In such a setup, Højlund's chances of regular playing time are slim to none.

Reports earlier suggested United were open to using Højlund as a makeweight in a player-plus-cash deal to sign Šeško from RB Leipzig. However, renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Højlund rejected a move to Germany, and the deal fell apart.

Romano also revealed that AC Milan is monitoring the situation. While Højlund is not their top target—Dusan Vlahović is also on their shortlist—he remains an option, especially if United proceed with the sale.
