At 49 years old, “The Rocket” Ronnie O’Sullivan once again proved his unique place in snooker history. In the semi-final against Joe Wakelin, he produced two perfect 147 maximum breaks within less than two hours, setting two unprecedented records.

First 147: A Perfect Return After Seven Years

Right from the opening frame, O’Sullivan was unstoppable. He fired a flawless 147 in the very first frame – his first maximum break in a professional match since 2018 (seven years ago), and the 16th 147 of his career.

Second 147: Another Miracle Two Hours Later

The real shock came in the seventh frame. O’Sullivan once again cleared the table with perfection, producing a second 147 of the night. The two maximums were separated by less than two hours and just seven frames – a feat nothing short of extraordinary.
It was also the 17th 147 of his career, meaning he went from his 16th to his 17th maximum in just two hours of play.

Two New Records in One Night

With these two 147s, O’Sullivan made snooker history by:

1. Aged 49 years and 253 days – becoming the oldest player ever to make a 147 in an official match.
2. Two 147s in a single stage – the first player in history to produce two maximums in the same stage of a tournament.

Prize Money: £172,000 in a Single Night

Under the tournament prize rules, O’Sullivan will split the £50,000 maximum break prize with Thepchaiya Un-Nooh, who made a 147 earlier in the week. On top of that, he will receive £147,000 for the special “Double 147” bonus.
In total, O’Sullivan earned £172,000 (around ¥1.67 million RMB) in one evening.

Into the Final, Eyeing the Title

O’Sullivan went on to win the semi-final 6-3 against Wakelin, booking his place in the final where he will face Australia’s Neil Robertson for the championship.
