Tech Titans Gather at the White House: Zuckerberg, Cook, and Industry Leaders Pledge Massive U.S. Investments
On Thursday, the White House hosted an extraordinary evening as President Donald Trump welcomed some of the most influential figures in the U.S. technology sector. The guest list read like a “who’s who” of Silicon Valley and beyond, featuring Apple’s Tim Cook, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, Google’s Sundar Pichai, OpenAI’s Sam Altman, and even Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates. Notably absent were Elon Musk and Nvidia’s Jensen Huang—though both were invited, according to official remarks.
Originally planned as an outdoor gathering, the dinner was moved indoors due to weather conditions. While the atmosphere appeared somewhat restrained, the event produced concrete outcomes: several tech leaders made clear investment commitments directly to President Trump.
During the evening, executives took turns expressing gratitude to the President and First Lady for their efforts to bolster U.S. semiconductor manufacturing and attract significant investment in artificial intelligence.
Seated beside Trump, Mark Zuckerberg appeared slightly reserved. He thanked the President for hosting, noting that major companies were making “massive investments in the U.S. to build data centers and infrastructure that will power the next wave of innovation.” Unsatisfied with the vague phrasing, Trump pressed him for specifics. Momentarily caught off guard, Zuckerberg hesitated before revealing, “By 2028, (Meta) will invest at least $600 billion in the United States.” The President responded approvingly: “That’s a lot.”
Zuckerberg’s evening wasn’t without lighter moments. When a reporter shifted from questioning Trump on U.K. free speech policies to suddenly addressing him, Zuckerberg sheepishly admitted he hadn’t been paying attention. Trump quipped, “This will be the start of your political career,” prompting a quick, smiling denial from Zuckerberg.
Apple’s Tim Cook also took the spotlight, pledging an equally impressive $600 billion investment—a figure Apple has previously announced. He commended Trump for “setting the tone that allows us to make significant investments in the U.S. and bring critical manufacturing here,” calling it a testament to the President’s leadership and commitment to innovation.
Among the high-profile attendees were:
- Tim Cook – CEO, Apple
- Mark Zuckerberg – Founder & CEO, Meta
- Bill Gates – Co-founder, Microsoft & philanthropist
- Sergey Brin – Co-founder, Google
- Satya Nadella – CEO, Microsoft
- Sundar Pichai – CEO, Google & Alphabet
- Lisa Su – CEO, AMD
- Sanjay Mehrotra – CEO, Micron Technology
- David Limp – CEO, Blue Origin
- Safra Catz – CEO, Oracle
- Sam Altman – CEO, OpenAI
- Greg Brockman – Co-founder & President, OpenAI
- Alexandr Wang – Founder & CEO, Scale AI
- Dylan Field – Co-founder & CEO, Figma
- And many more leading entrepreneurs, investors, and innovators from across the tech landscape.
While Musk later stated on X (formerly Twitter) that he was invited but unable to attend, and Huang reportedly preferred a one-on-one policy discussion with the President, the evening still brought together a remarkable concentration of technological and economic power under one roof—signaling both confidence and commitment toward investing in America’s future.
