At Apple’s September 10 event, the company officially unveiled its latest A-series chips: the A19, A19 Pro, and a streamlined version of the A19 Pro.

Not to be outdone, Qualcomm has already announced its upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5, and just today, MediaTek confirmed the launch date of its Dimensity 9500.

By next week, all of this year’s flagship mobile processors will have taken the stage. But here’s the twist—information about the next generation of chips has already “leaked.”

And the bombshell? Next year’s chips are all set to jump to the cutting-edge 2nm process.

Why the quotation marks around “leaked”?
Because this time, it wasn’t some rumor mill—it was MediaTek itself.

Fresh off announcing the Dimensity 9500, MediaTek enthusiastically revealed on its official site that its 2nm chips have already been successfully taped out.

Not only did MediaTek confirm the tape-out, but it also spilled some key details about TSMC’s process. According to MediaTek, TSMC’s 2nm technology will debut nanosheet transistors, delivering superior performance, power efficiency, and yield.

Compared with the current N3E process, the enhanced 2nm node boosts logic density by 1.2x, increases performance by up to 18% at the same power, and cuts power consumption by about 36% at the same speed.

Clearly, MediaTek just couldn’t keep this secret under wraps.

The implications are massive: simply moving to TSMC’s 2nm process already means stronger performance and longer battery life—setting the stage for another wave of flagship chip breakthroughs.

And it’s not just MediaTek making headlines. Over at Apple, fresh leaks from the supply chain suggest that next year’s iPhone 18 series will debut with the A20 chip, built on TSMC’s 2nm process.

The roadmap doesn’t stop there: the MacBook Pro is expected to launch with the M6 chip, while the Vision Pro could roll out with the R2 chip, both likely adopting the same 2nm architecture. The A20 is also rumored to feature WMCM advanced packaging technology.

At this point, the only major player keeping quiet is Qualcomm. No solid news has emerged yet, but as the saying goes—let’s give it a little more time for the bullets to fly.
