In the 26th round of the 2025 Chinese Super League, Shanghai Shenhua delighted their home fans with a commanding performance against Meizhou Hakka — and veteran midfielder Wu Xi stole the spotlight with a brilliant brace, marking only the second time in his CSL career that he has struck twice in a single match.

The breakthrough moment came in the 27th minute. From the right flank, Manafá delivered a clever lofted pass into the box. Wu Xi read the play perfectly, timed his run, and produced a delicate chip finish to double Shenhua’s lead to 2–0.

Closing in on a Personal Record

This brace not only brought Wu Xi’s total to 51 career CSL goals, but also marked his sixth strike of the 2025 season. One more goal will see him equal his personal best of seven in a single season, a record he set just last year in 2024.

Remarkably, this was only the second brace of Wu Xi’s CSL career, with the previous one dating back to October 20, 2019, when he struck twice against Hebei. It took 391 league appearances to reach this milestone again — a testament to his longevity, perseverance, and continued influence in Chinese football.
