iOS 26 Beta Bug Hits WeChat Calls: Users Report “No Sound” Glitch

-

September 30, Fast Technology News — A curious bug has surfaced for users testing Apple’s latest iOS 26 beta. Weibo CEO Wang Gaofei (known online as Laquzhijian) took to the platform today, revealing a frustrating issue he encountered after updating to iOS 26 b1:

“After updating, WeChat voice calls have no sound the first time you connect. You have to hang up and call again before it works,” Wang wrote.

Even after uninstalling and reinstalling WeChat, the problem persisted. His post quickly drew attention, with many users in the comments reporting the exact same glitch. Some were even worried their phones might be faulty.

Weibo’s smart search feature soon identified the culprit: it’s a compatibility bug tied to the iOS beta system itself. A temporary workaround has been suggested for affected users until Apple addresses the issue in a future patch.

Apple’s Latest Beta Update

The problem surfaced just as Apple rolled out iOS 26.1 Beta 1 last week, which packed in several exciting features:

  • Apple Intelligence language expansion: support for Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese (Portugal), Swedish, Turkish, Traditional Chinese, and Vietnamese.
  • AirPods real-time translation upgrade: now covering Japanese, Korean, Italian, and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese.
  • Fresh design refresh: the Phone app’s dial pad now sports a futuristic liquid glass aesthetic.

Bottom Line

While beta glitches are nothing new, this WeChat calling bug stands out given how essential the app is for daily communication in China. Users on the beta are advised to stay patient—or use the suggested workaround—while awaiting Apple’s official fix.
