(Kuala Lumpur, 14 Sept) Rising Chinese actor Cheng Lei, known for dramas including “How Dare You!?” and “Legend of the Female General”, made his first appearance as iQIYI International’s global ambassador at Sunway Velocity Mall on Sunday (13 Sept), attracting a large crowd of Malaysian fans.
Making his first Malaysian appearance under the “iQIYI Starship Project 2026”, Cheng greeted fans in Malay and also showed off some Cantonese and Hakka, jokingly praising Malaysians as “language geniuses”.
Cheng said he had long known about the support from his Malaysian fans, but was even more touched after experiencing their enthusiasm in person. He also revealed that he hopes to try nasi lemak and explore more of Malaysia’s food and scenery during his visit.
During the event, Cheng participated in games, read messages from fans and watched a special fan-made support video.
Looking ahead, the actor said he hopes to return to Malaysia for filming or other collaborations, adding that the country has “beautiful scenery and plenty of delicious food”.
