According to IT Home on November 21, Swedish company Epishine announced on the 17th that its photovoltaic technology will be adopted in future Google TV reference remotes supplied by Ohsung Electronics.

Epishine will provide Ohsung with printed organic thin-film solar cells capable of capturing ambient indoor light from both sides, making energy harvesting more efficient.

This means future Google TV reference remotes will no longer require traditional replaceable batteries. Thanks to Epishine’s maintenance-free solution, the remote can continue collecting solar energy even when placed face down. The design is more environmentally friendly and offers users a seamless, worry-free experience.
