On December 28, Red Star News reported that Ms. Song from Leshan, Sichuan, placed an order for a Model Y Long Range AWD at a Tesla center, with delivery scheduled in Haikou. When picking up the vehicle on December 8, she discovered it was a 2025 June production model, while the upgraded version with increased range had been available since July. Ms. Song claimed the sales staff had not informed her, refused delivery, and requested a refund of the deposit and compensation for travel and accommodation costs.

Tesla responded that the customer voluntarily switched from a pre-order to an in-stock vehicle to shorten the waiting time, and both parties had agreed on the delivered vehicle. The “2025-02” batch code in the contract identifies the production date; the vehicle meets the order specifications. Tesla confirmed that the employee assisting the urgent order failed to follow standard verification procedures, has been disciplined, and internal compliance training will be strengthened. Tesla is actively communicating with the customer to reach a satisfactory resolution.

It is worth noting that in July, the Model 3 Long Range and refreshed Model Y Long Range received new battery upgrades, increasing range without price change: Model Y from 719 km to 750 km, Model 3 from 713 km to 753 km. The refreshed Model Y, inspired by Cyber Off-road and Cyber unmanned vehicle designs, features a sturdier body, new front and rear lights, wheels, 16 speakers, and other premium configurations.
