【TVB Awards 2025】The Queen of News’s 何廣沛 and 王敏奕 win Best Supporting Actor and Actress.

(Macau, Jan 4) TVB’s flagship awards show, the TVB Anniversary Awards 2025, took place today at the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau’s theatre venue. The race for Best Supporting Actress was fiercely competitive, but ultimately Hong Kong actress Venny Wong won the award for her role as “Lau Yim” in The Queen of News 2, beating strong contenders including Mimi Kung, Selena Lee, Samantha Ko, and Hera Chan.

When her name was announced, Wong was overwhelmed with emotion and burst into tears. On stage, she thanked TVB executives and the teams who had supported her along the way, before admitting, “Your mind really goes completely blank.” She said her biggest lesson over the past few years was to stay humble and work hard, emphasizing that acting is not a competition. Wong added that the award is not the ultimate goal, noting that being remembered by audiences for her work is already a meaningful achievement. While she believes actors don’t need trophies to prove their worth, she said awards can help strengthen an actor’s determination to keep going—and encouraged herself and others by saying that hard work can eventually be rewarded.

Best Supporting Actor went to Kalok Pui Ho for his portrayal of “Ivan” in The Queen of News 2. Presenter Law Kar-ying hinted on stage that the winner was someone he had worked with before, and Ho appeared to realize the result immediately, breaking down in tears in the audience. As he came on stage, Law even wiped away his tears, while Ho joked, “My tears have dried up!”

Later, Ho reflected that his last award was the “Most Improved Male Artiste” (Leap Forward) in 2018, and he had long expected it would take years before winning again because “the next award requires even greater effort.” He admitted he had felt lost at times and had not always been at his best, but promised to keep pushing forward. Calling 2026 “a very happy year” for him, he thanked everyone who supported him—while co-star Charmaine Sheh (“Man姐”) was also seen tearing up in the audience.
