Suspected red-light crash with a motorcycle in Johor Bahru; Malaysian police are tracking down a Singapore-registered car

Singapore, Jan 13 — A Singapore-registered car is suspected of running a red light in Johor Bahru, colliding with a motorcycle and then leaving the scene. Johor Bahru police have launched an investigation and are urging the vehicle owner to come forward to assist.

The crash occurred on Jan 10 at about 12:30 p.m., near the Johor Bahru checkpoint along Jalan Tebrau and the Inner Ring Road, close to the junction near KSL City Mall.

A video posted by Facebook page SGRV shows a Singapore-registered sedan allegedly crossing against the traffic light before colliding with a motorcycle. The footage appears to show the motorcyclist striking the right side of the car, being thrown upward, and landing seated on the road. The car did not stop after the impact and drove away. Several passing riders were seen nearby, with at least one stopping to check on the injured rider.

The video sparked widespread online discussion, with many commenters condemning the driver’s alleged reckless behavior and warning that running red lights endangers lives. Some users also shared screenshots claiming the driver later posted online that a settlement had been reached with the rider.

Johor Bahru South district police chief ACP Raub said investigations are ongoing, the vehicle is being traced, and a traffic summons will be issued. Police also called on the vehicle owner to report to the Johor Bahru South Traffic Police Headquarters to assist with inquiries.
