The WTT Contender Muscat continued on January 21, but China’s women’s singles campaign suffered a major setback.

Among five Chinese players competing in the women’s singles qualifiersfour were eliminated, leaving Han Feier as the only player to advance to the main draw. The result once again exposed issues facing China’s next generation of women’s players.

Han Feier dropped the opening game against India’s Diya Parag Chitale, struggling initially against an unconventional playing style. However, she quickly adjusted, winning the next three games 11–3, 12–10, and 11–4, completing a 3–1 comeback victory.

Elsewhere, Yao Ruixuan lost 1–3 to Hong Kong China’s Su Tsz Tung, while Bai Siwen was eliminated 1–3 by Maria Panfilova after winning the first game.

This marks the third international event of the new season in which China’s women’s singles results have fallen short, highlighting a challenging transition period for the team.
