In the recently concluded African Cup final, Senegal defeated Morocco 1-0 to claim their second-ever African Cup title! Upon returning home, the nation erupted in celebration as the President personally welcomed the champions and announced generous rewards. According to L’Equipe, each player will receive approximately $120,000 in prize money and 1,500 square meters of land in Dakar’s upscale suburbs. Coaching staff and official personnel accompanying the team will also receive monetary and land rewards.

Led by Sadio Mané, Senegal lifts the African Cup again after four years. The team held a grand victory parade in Dakar, with hundreds of thousands of fans cheering in the streets. Head coach Aliou Cissé and all players were awarded the “National Lion of Senegal” medal for their outstanding achievement.

The whole country shared in the triumph. On January 19, Senegal declared a nationwide paid holiday to celebrate. In history, during Senegal’s first African Cup triumph in 2022, players also received cash and land rewards. Mané played a pivotal role in both victories, making 29 appearances with 11 goals and 8 assists in African Cup history, cementing his place as a national hero.
