Apple iOS 27 Introduces New Siri Chatbot: Powerful Features, but Paid

On January 22, it was revealed that Apple will officially launch iOS 27 at WWDC in the first half of this year, with the iPhone 18 series shipping pre-installed. Notably, iOS 27 will debut a brand-new Siri chatbot, code-named Campos, designed to compete with leading AI chat applications such as Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, and OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

The new Siri will be integrated into iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27, replacing the existing Siri. Powered by a custom model based on Google Gemini, it offers natural language conversation capabilities comparable to ChatGPT. Users can activate it via the Siri wake word or by long-pressing the side button on iPhone/iPad.

Its functionality is extensive, including web search, image generation, coding assistance, information summarization, file analysis, and even accessing personal device data to complete tasks. It can view open windows and screen content, adjust system settings, and will be deeply integrated with Apple apps such as Photos, Mail, Messages, Music, and Apple TV to accurately interpret and execute user commands.

Apple plans to introduce a personalized Siri in iOS 26.4 first, with the more advanced chatbot version arriving in iOS 27. Given the massive computational power required for every query and image generation, the new Siri chatbot will be a paid service, with pricing details yet to be announced.
