Report: Honor Magic8 RSR May Be the Last Micro-Curved Display Flagship Among Top-Tier Smartphone Makers

IT Home reported on January 25 that blogger @體驗 more shared an update suggesting the Honor Magic8 RSR will likely be the last micro-curved display flagship from a mainstream top-tier smartphone brand. According to the post, the next-generation Magic lineup is expected to switch to a “6.8X” straight (flat) display, since a 6.71-inch form factor may limit what the device can deliver.

Meanwhile, Wang Ban, President of Sales & Services at Honor Terminal Co., released a sales performance update highlighting strong early momentum. He noted that the Honor Magic8 RSR Porsche Design has achieved higher sales revenue than all previous Porsche Design editions, setting a new record. In addition, the Magic8 Pro Air reportedly delivered a standout first-day performance, with launch-day sales said to surpass the iPhone Air.

There are also rumors that Honor is developing a display solution featuring BT.2020 color gamut support along with built-in privacy protection technology. Separately, reports suggest Honor has begun testing several new display panels, including a “mid-size” form factor that may introduce new design variations. Taken together, these developments point toward a broader transition—starting from these new panels—toward flat-screen designs across the lineup.

It’s also worth noting that IT Home previously cited a Weibo post from Honor performance development engineer Chen Ligeng on January 18, stating that the event’s key releases would include the Magic8 Pro Air and what he described as the final, peak-generation Porsche series. If accurate, this would mean the Honor Magic8 RSR Porsche Design could indeed be Honor’s last Porsche Design model.
