On January 29, Sudoku Online reported on January 22 that Motorola’s recently approved patent had been rendered, showcasing a more radical “transformable screen” technology than conventional foldable devices. This design supports multi-joint folding and can even be wrapped around the wrist.

According to the renders, the device features a multi-link body structure combined with a flexible display, allowing it to bend freely like a soft measuring tape. Users can fold it into a “tent mode” for watching videos on a desk, or wrap it around the wrist to function as a wearable device.

The patent also introduces a dedicated sensing algorithm. Using the camera to detect the user’s gaze, the system automatically lights up the screen facing the user while turning off the rear side to save power.

This technology illustrates the potential future of foldable devices—moving beyond traditional smartphone forms toward wearable, transformable, multi-scenario smart terminals.
