(Hong Kong, Jan 31) Award-winning filmmaker 周星馳 (Stephen Chow) has been increasingly active on social media, engaging directly with fans. While his upcoming film 女足 has only recently wrapped filming and is rumored to target the Lunar New Year release window, Chow has already unveiled his next creative initiative.

On January 30, Chow released a video on social platforms issuing a “hero’s call,” inviting fans and creators from across the Chinese-speaking world to co-create a brand-new original IP titled Shin Shin Legends (Xing Xing Qun Xia Zhuan). In the video, he showcased hand-drawn sketches of iconic characters inspired by 食神, 功夫, and other classics, encouraging participants to submit ideas or vote to help shape the characters’ destinies.

Preliminary materials reveal that several characters already feature basic weapon and skill concepts, including humorous nods such as the landlady’s signature slipper. The overall world-building has led many to speculate that the IP may evolve into an animated or game-based format.

According to the official team, Chow serves as the “IP initiator,” providing an open platform for creative talents to showcase ideas and potentially share in the project’s economic returns. In an era shaped by rapidly advancing AI technologies, the initiative aims to foster a collaborative creative ecosystem.
