(Hong Kong, 9) Actor Louis Koo has been busy promoting the film adaptation of A Step Into the Past. In a rare candid interview on Carol Cheng’s YouTube program The Do Show, he opened up about childhood health issues and his current memory lapses, drawing concern from fans.

Koo shared that as a child he frequently experienced sudden “white light” episodes that caused brief blindness lasting over ten seconds—sometimes four or five times a day. A scan later found bruised blood in his brain. Doctors suggested it could be linked to a past accident or oxygen deprivation during birth, and explained that as the brain grows, the pressure on nerves may lessen. Koo said he took medication back then and the issue no longer affects him.

When asked about rumors of “memory loss,” he admitted he does have mild forgetfulness, though unrelated to the childhood condition. He described it as forgetting people he has met—often feeling someone is familiar but unable to place them. Interestingly, he said his memory is extremely sharp for work, including scripts, lines, and blocking, yet once filming wraps, he may quickly forget details—sometimes even forgetting he acted in certain films years later.
