(Wuhan, 22nd) Jerry Yan recently performed alongside Vanness Wu, Vic Zhou, and Mayday’s Ashin at the “F FOREVER – City of Stars” concert series in Wuhan, which drew around 60,000 fans across four shows. However, his speaking segment during the concert sparked online debate after audiences noticed he was using a teleprompter with emotional cues, leading some netizens to question its authenticity.

In response, Ashin addressed the matter on stage, offering insight into Jerry Yan’s true feelings. He revealed that prior to the tour, Jerry had expressed anxiety about performing, preferring to only participate in group singing due to a lack of confidence in both singing and speaking. “Jerry has a lot of deep and genuine emotions inside him,” Ashin explained, “but he’s naturally not good with words. He has so much love and care, yet doesn’t know how to express it.”

Ashin also shared a personal story: after he fell off the stage last year, many artists sent him long messages of concern, but Jerry said nothing—instead, he quietly bought him protective gloves. Moved by the gesture, Ashin told him, “It’s okay, I’ll be with you as you slowly shape every word you’ve wanted to say to your fans over the past 20 years.”

However, when Jerry tried to deliver those words, he became overwhelmed with emotion and broke down after just a few sentences. Ashin jokingly revealed that he added a note on the teleprompter: “At most, your eyes can tear up,” to prevent him from crying on stage.

Jerry later admitted that being around Ashin has helped him become more expressive, but he still gets emotional when thinking about what he wants to say to his fans. “I’m not someone who’s good with words, but I express myself through actions,” he said. He also shared that he has learned to accept differing opinions: “Those who like me will continue to do so, and those who don’t—that’s okay. I know I’m changing.”

He ended by expressing gratitude to Ashin for his support and energy, drawing loud cheers from the audience.
