Liao Ke Fa Brings Sea of Life “Home” for Release, Chen Xue Zhen and Lü Yang to Appear on April 6

(Kuala Lumpur, 20th) The latest feature film The Great Sea Within, written and directed by Lau Kek Huat and filmed across Malaysia and Taiwan, is set for nationwide release on April 16. To promote the film, Lau will be joined by actors Chen Hsueh Chen and Lyu Yang for a promotional tour in Malaysia starting April 6.

A special screening and meet-and-greet session—the only one in Malaysia—will be held at GSC The Starling Mall, giving fans a chance to watch the film early and interact with the creative team.

Lau expressed both excitement and gratitude for bringing the film back to Malaysia, noting that this is his first large-scale commercial release in his home country.

Award-winning actress Chen Hsueh Chen, who won Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Horse Awards for her role as “Shui Yun,” shared that mastering the Malaysian accent was her biggest challenge. She underwent intensive preparation, studying local speech patterns and cultural context, and even learned coffee-making to fully embody her character.

Lau described the film as a blend of dark humor and emotional depth, hoping audiences will experience both laughter and reflection. Chen added that she hopes viewers can find personal resonance, whether through healing, warmth, or humor.

The special screening will take place on April 6 at 8:15 PM, with tickets priced at RM28, including a limited-edition poster.
