(Kuala Lumpur, March 29) Hong Kong pop diva Kelly Chen brought her “Season 2: World Tour Concert” to Kuala Lumpur as part of her 30th anniversary celebration, following a highly წარმატ success run in Hong Kong where every show sold out and generated widespread buzz.
One of the night’s biggest highlights was the surprise appearance of veteran singer William So. However, a minor technical glitch occurred when his microphone failed as he emerged from the stage lift. Staying composed, he humorously quipped, “You were lucky—you couldn’t see it!” before making a smooth re-entry, sending the audience into laughter and even catching Kelly Chen off guard.
At 53, Kelly Chen stunned the crowd with her striking black-and-white “female knight” stage look, proving her enduring charm and stage presence. William So praised her as being “unchanged for 30 years,” highlighting her consistent elegance and professionalism. The duo later delivered a heartfelt performance of their classic duet “If One Day We Could Forget.”
During their on-stage interaction, Chen shared that her first-ever performance was alongside So, recalling how nervous she was at the time. The two also reminisced about past collaborations, including a charity performance involving aerial stunts—prompting So to joke about her screaming throughout the experience, drawing laughter from the crowd.
In his solo segment, So playfully invited song requests, only to tease the audience and promote his upcoming concert with Dicky Cheung, Andy Hui, and Edmond Leung, adding a fun and entertaining twist.
Returning to Malaysia after two years, Chen delivered a dynamic setlist spanning new hits and timeless classics such as “Flower Universe,” “Lavender,” and “Wind, Flower, Snow,” all of which sparked massive sing-alongs. She also debuted her new track “That Person, That Place, That Day,” written by AGA.
The concert’s extended stage design allowed Chen to get closer to fans than ever before. She frequently stepped onto the runway, interacting warmly, posing for photos, and even chatting with fans. Spotting twin fans in the audience, she excitedly exclaimed, “We have Malaysian Twins here!”
In a standout moment, she stepped off the stage into the crowd, singing while shaking hands and high-fiving fans. Even when surrounded by enthusiastic supporters, she remained calm and gracious—taking time to sign autographs and showcasing the poise of a true diva.
