China U16 Women Beat England and France Back-to-Back, Host Team Refuses Handshake After Loss

China U16 women’s team continued their impressive run at the Montaigu Tournament, defeating host nation France 2-1 in the second group-stage match earlier today. However, the post-match scenes sparked controversy as French players refused to shake hands.

China opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Zhou Jintong curled a stunning free kick into the top corner, giving her side an early lead.

Just before halftime in the 45th minute, He Fengqingyang doubled the advantage with a composed finish inside the box after controlling a pass and turning sharply to shoot.

France pulled one back in the 73rd minute after being awarded a penalty following a controversial fall inside the box, widely questioned as a possible dive.

Earlier in the match, tensions were already rising. In the 65th minute, a French player made an aggressive sliding challenge with no clear shooting opportunity, followed by repeated tackles on the ground, leaving China’s Zhu Yuhan injured and requiring medical attention.

After the final whistle, French players showed visible frustration, arguing with the referee, while the No.13 player angrily kicked the ball away. Meanwhile, China had lined up for the customary handshake, but due to France’s reaction, they ended up greeting only the referees.

China had already defeated England 1-0 in the opening match, with Zhu Paixi scoring the winner. With two consecutive victories, they will face Mexico next on April 4.
