Tesla Launches Major FSD v14 Update: Integrating Robotaxi Breakthroughs with New Driving and Safety Features

October 7 — Tesla has officially rolled out Full Self-Driving (FSD) v14.1 to users across North America — marking the company’s most significant FSD update in nearly a year. The new version incorporates key technologies and insights gained from Tesla’s Robotaxi autonomous driving project, representing a major leap toward the brand’s self-driving vision.

Despite CEO Elon Musk’s repeated claims that FSD would soon achieve “unsupervised autonomous driving,” that milestone remains elusive. Tesla explained that its engineering team had been focusing primarily on the Austin-based Robotaxi program in recent months. The newly released FSD v14 reportedly integrates several of those developments into the consumer-facing FSD system.

Originally scheduled for September, the update was delayed due to a detected software bug but began rolling out late Monday night. Early reports from HW4 vehicle owners show remarkable improvements — particularly in auto-parking performance, which some users say now outperforms human drivers.

According to Tesla’s official release notes, FSD v14 delivers sweeping improvements in navigation accuracy, environmental awareness, and driver interaction, including:

Users can now activate FSD Supervised Mode directly from the center touchscreen or via the right scroll wheel on the steering wheel, with real-time control over “Speed Profiles” and “Arrival Options.”

Tesla reiterates that FSD (Supervised) still requires active driver supervision and intervention when necessary. The system assists with automatic starting, lane changes, obstacle avoidance, turns, and parking — but it does not equate to full autonomy.

The update disables Brake Confirm by default, though users can manually re-enable it via the Autopilot Settings menu.
