In Round 4 of the 2026 Chinese Super League, Qingdao West Coast fell into an early 0–2 deficit against Chengdu Rongcheng, largely due to two costly errors by goalkeeper Liu Shibo in the first half.

With first-choice keeper Li Hao sidelined due to injury sustained against Shanghai Port, Liu was handed a starting opportunity. However, he struggled to deliver under pressure.

Just 7 minutes into the match, Wellington Silva’s shot deflected off Liu and bounced in off the post, giving Chengdu the lead. While somewhat unfortunate, the incident exposed hesitation in handling the attempt.

In the 40th minute, Liu failed to secure a long-range shot from Romulo, spilling the ball into danger. Sorokin capitalized on the rebound to score Chengdu’s second goal.

Both goals stemmed directly from goalkeeping errors, significantly impacting Qingdao’s defensive stability.
