Lee Ka Ding claims he pays at least 50,000 monthly to support Lee Wing Hon’s family; blasts eldest daughter-in-law as “troublemaker with hidden agendas”

(Hong Kong, 21st) 79-year-old Hong Kong actor Li Ka-ding spoke to the media ahead of the funeral of his former wife Shi Ming, which will be held on April 22 at Po Fook Memorial Hall, followed by cremation at Fu Shan Crematorium. He revealed that his eldest son, Li Yonghan, still insists on excluding his sister-in-law Agnes’ name from family wreaths.

Li said his only wish is for the funeral to proceed smoothly. He added that his younger son Li Yonghao advised him to avoid confrontation and leave if tensions arise, citing his own fragile health. He also confirmed that he and Li Yonghao’s family will not attend the post-funeral gathering.

In an interview cited by local media, Li Ka-ding disclosed that he has financially supported his eldest son’s family of five for seven to eight years, contributing over HKD50,000 monthly. He remarked bluntly that if he were denied access to his grandchildren, “they would struggle to survive,” as he has been supporting them.

Visibly emotional, Li expressed deep disappointment, even tearing up during the interview, questioning how things had reached this point.

There were also reports suggesting that conflicts between the brothers stemmed from a failed ramen business and financial strain during the pandemic. Li added that his eldest son has had unstable employment and has worked as his assistant in recent years, receiving a monthly allowance of HKD50,000–60,000.

He further claimed that despite having income, his eldest son continues to rely on him financially, including expenses for his grandchildren’s education and insurance. He also criticized his eldest daughter-in-law, accusing her of stirring conflict within the family.

Li emphasized that despite divorcing Shi Ming, he had always taken care of her financially, including housing and living expenses. He stated emotionally, “She was the only woman I truly loved in my life.”

Addressing rumors that he was being controlled by his younger son, Li denied such claims, stating he moves freely and often visits TVB City to dine with Li Yonghao. He praised his younger son for contributing significantly to the family.

He concluded by recalling that he paid for his eldest son’s wedding, while Li Yonghao covered transportation costs. Before the wedding, Li Yonghao even moved out of the family home to make space for his brother’s family. Despite his efforts to maintain harmony, the family relationship ultimately broke down.
