(Kuala Lumpur, 21st) Astro Originals has officially launched filming for its new Chinese drama “One Heart, One Hundred Million.” The star-studded cast includes Feng Wei Quan, Joyce Chu, Gary Kok, Tang Xu Jin, Crystal Tan, Jack Tan, Peng Xu Yue, Ng Qing Nian, Foo Wan Qi, and Zhang Jia Ni.

The series uses dark comedy to explore real-world issues, focusing on the blurred line between truth and lies, and portraying the absurdity and loneliness of modern life under public scrutiny and personal desire. It follows a top actress, Zhang Youwen (played by Joyce Chu), who, despite being at the peak of her career, is pushed to the brink by industry pressure and online harassment. After a failed suicide attempt at a funeral parlor, she is stopped by a quiet mortuary makeup artist, Wang Changlong (Feng Wei Quan). A misunderstanding is turned into a PR narrative, branding her as a hero, while he is forced into the role of the “rescued.” When he refuses, a twist involving a massive inheritance leads them into a contract marriage built on lies and利益.

This marks Joyce Chu’s first leading role in a Malaysian drama. She expressed excitement about filming in her hometown, highlighting both the emotional connection and the challenges of intense dramatic scenes, which director Adrian Teh praised highly.

The drama also features a contrasting romance between the glamorous actress and the introverted makeup artist, including several intimate scenes. Meanwhile, Gary Kok plays a flamboyant talent manager, bringing both realism and humor to the role, especially in his dynamic with lawyer character Tang Xu Jin.

Veteran actress Crystal Tan also revealed she will have a romantic storyline with the younger Jack Tan, adding another layer of intrigue to the series.
