Hacken Lee Jokes He's the ‘Singer Who Received the Most Red Packets After Chinese New Year’ Following Two-Night Concert

Genting Highlands, July 27 — Hong Kong singer Hacken Lee made his long-awaited return to Malaysia after seven years, performing two consecutive sold-out shows at the Hacken Lee Malaysia Concert 2026. After being showered with red packets on the opening night, fans continued the tradition during the second performance, leaving the singer joking that he was probably "the artist who received the most red packets after Chinese New Year."

Throughout the concert, fans repeatedly handed him red packets, with some even presenting a thick stack at once. Laughing, Lee asked, "There are more?" before joking that giving red packets is a Chinese tradition and that fans could even give them to him outside the festive season. He quickly added, "I'm just kidding!"

Opening the second night's show, Lee encouraged audience participation, saying that a concert feels completely different when the audience responds enthusiastically. The crowd answered with thunderous cheers and applause, prompting him to praise them for being "very smart." He was also delighted to spot fans who attended both nights of the concert.

Lee invited The Voice of China 2021 champion Wu Keyue as his special guest. The pair performed romantic duets including Wrapped in Endless Love, Still in Love and Love Someone. Wu thanked her mentor for bringing her to Malaysia, jokingly calling it "the land of unlimited durians." Lee immediately laughed, saying he had no idea how to respond to the durian comment and jokingly excused himself to change costumes.

The concert also featured a special acoustic segment accompanied only by a guitar, which Lee described as the "dessert" of the evening after all the grand production numbers.

Another touching moment came when Lee introduced the music video for Your Love Won't Return, filmed by his son Ryan Lee, who is currently studying film in the United States. Watching the video on the big screen, Lee smiled proudly and admitted, "That's just how fathers are—I want to share everything with everyone."

Classic hits including Never Change My Life, Deep, Deep, Deep, Tall Girl and Half Moon Serenade sparked massive singalongs, while the finale Red Sun saw Lee conduct the audience as thousands sang together.

Closing the concert, Lee reflected on his long history with Genting Highlands, recalling his earliest performances there in the early 1990s. Thanking fans for their unwavering support, he said, "Happiness should never be taken for granted. Thank you to everyone who loves my songs. I'll continue singing and bringing joy to all of you."
