Elon Musk Slams Anne Hathaway’s Past Equality Speech, Calls Her “A Puppet” with a “Bird Brain”

LOS ANGELES, July 29 – A 2018 speech by Academy Award-winning actress Anne Hathaway at the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) has resurfaced online, prompting a scathing response from billionaire Elon Musk and reigniting debate across social media.
Responding to the viral clip on X, Musk dismissed Hathaway as "a puppet" and argued that the speechwriter deserved even greater criticism. He later escalated his remarks, claiming the actress lacked independent thinking and accusing her of merely repeating Hollywood's talking points rather than expressing her own views.
According to international media reports, the latest exchange is believed to be linked to Hathaway's starring role in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey. Musk has previously criticised the film's diverse casting, arguing that it strays too far from Homer's original epic.
He has repeatedly questioned the casting decisions and even suggested using his AI chatbot, Grok, to create a version that he believes would remain more faithful to the source material.
Observers believe Musk's renewed criticism of Hathaway's earlier advocacy for equality is an extension of his broader opposition to what he describes as politically correct storytelling surrounding The Odyssey.
Despite the ongoing controversy, the film has continued to perform strongly at the global box office, reportedly delivering an impressive opening weekend and demonstrating that the online debate has had little impact on audience interest.
Fellow cast member Lupita Nyong'o has also responded to the criticism, saying that film productions should reflect the diversity of the real world and making it clear that the cast has no intention of allowing online backlash to dictate its creative vision.
