TAIPEI, June 30 – Taiwanese actress and singer Jiang Yuchen has found herself at the centre of a dating controversy just days before the finale of Ride the Wind 2026 (Sisters Who Make Waves 7), with speculation over a new relationship triggering heated online debate and reports of some fans withdrawing their support.

Jiang, who divorced her American pilot ex-husband in October last year, enjoyed a career resurgence through the reality competition. She initially impressed audiences by climbing to sixth place after the first performance round, but her rankings gradually declined to 17th in the third round and 22nd by the fifth performance.

The controversy began after fans noticed that, following her divorce, Jiang had shared photos on social media with a foreign man while visiting the United States. The images, including one of her leaning on his shoulder and another showing them spending time with children, fuelled speculation that the two were romantically involved.

Although Jiang later unfollowed the man on social media, fans recently discovered that she had followed him again, prompting renewed discussion as the competition entered its crucial final stage.

Her management studio declined to address the dating rumours directly, issuing only a brief statement alleging that certain individuals were deliberately stirring public opinion, a response that disappointed some supporters.

During a livestream on July 22, Jiang was repeatedly questioned about her personal life. She eventually responded, saying, "I've seen the comments, but I don't want to answer. Whether it's a boyfriend or girlfriend, this isn't the place to discuss it. If that's all you want to talk about, you can take a break and leave the conversation to those who genuinely want to chat."

She later added, "I have eyes. I can see the comments. You don't need to keep posting them—it's been almost an hour."

Jiang also urged fans not to direct their anger at her management team or engage in personal attacks. After the livestream ended, she deleted the replay, sparking even more discussion online.

Public reaction has been divided, with some fans defending her right to pursue a new relationship, while others believe the issue should have been addressed more openly.
